When The Buyer Backs Out: Real Estate Sales Solutions

The first time I sold a house, I had no idea that the buyer could back out of the contract partway through. I was taken aback when it happened to me, and my real estate agent had to explain the process of terminating the contract and requesting the earnest deposit. After the contract was terminated, I spent a lot of time researching why a buyer could back out of a sale, what I could do about it as the seller, and ways to minimize the risk of it happening. I created this site to share what I've learned in the hopes of preventing other homeowners from experiencing what I did. I hope it helps you to be better prepared as you sell your home.

Car Rental Options For Emergencies, Travel, Or Fun

There have never been more car rental options to choose from than those available today. Your choice will be limited only by the price you are willing to pay, your specific vehicle needs, and your imagination. There are even car rental services in large metropolitan areas that rent vehicles by the hour.

Car rentals for emergencies

When your car is involved in an accident and is being repaired, most car insurance will cover the cost of a replacement car rental for a period of up to 30 days. However, they will only reimburse you for the least expensive rental, which is usually a subcompact car. If you want a different replacement vehicle, you must pay the difference in price out of pocket.

Although this may be a difficult time, it can also be an opportunity to test drive either a vehicle that you may intend to purchase in the future, or a chance to drive an impractical, but fun, vehicle for the duration of your repairs.

Car rentals for fun

You may have always wanted a specific vehicle, such as a convertible, but were either unable to afford it, or realized that you probably wouldn't use it often. You can rent the convertible of your dreams at exactly the time of year that the weather is perfect for riding topless, then go back to your regular hard top vehicle without always worrying about the top getting cut and your car burglarized.

Car rentals for travel

It is in traveling that the wide variety of vehicle rental options is most beneficial. Traveling needs and everyday driving needs may be completely different. Benefits of renting a travel vehicle include:

  • Moving. You may not own or need a vehicle for everyday life, but you can rent a vehicle for a one way trip anywhere in the country. If you are meeting a moving truck at your destination, you can rent a small car to save on fuel cost. If you are making a fresh start and just taking personal items and a few pieces of furniture, a rental SUV or van will carry you and your things to your next adventure.
  • Travel for leisure. If you own an older vehicle, or just don't want to add additional miles to your vehicle, you may opt for a rental. Most rental car companies offer unlimited mileage for the duration of the rental. You may want a larger vehicle to carry additional people, luggage, and vacation equipment. And of course there's always that daydream of driving to the beach in a convertible with the top down and the ocean breeze blowing through your hair.
